The CWABC, as a Wiccan religious organization, supports as an article of faith, as stated in the Charge of the Goddess, that “all acts of love and pleasure” are the Goddess’ rituals.

To us this means that any form of love or sexuality that is non-abusive, and non-coercive, between consenting adults, is acceptable and even desirable. This includes, but is not limited to, relationships that are heterosexual or homosexual, relationships that are monogamous or polyamorous, and relationships that are alternative or conventional.

Our clergy can, and will, perform any kind of Pagan-oriented or Pagan-multifaith marriage ceremony within the bounds of the law. However, the law currently forbids legally recognized clergy from presiding over any ceremony that bears any sort of resemblance to a wedding between more than two partners. For this reason, and only this reason, our religious representatives, as recognized by the Province of British Columbia, cannot perform polyamorous handfastings, or even handfastings between two people when one of the parties involved is still legally married to someone else.

If we are approached to perform such a ceremony, we will refer the interested parties to clergy within our Church, or to qualified individuals within the Pagan community, who do not have legal marrying credentials from the Province of British Columbia.

Chanting is a powerful component of Wicca spirituality. It can be used to connect the spirit to the divine through the power of voice.

From: http://www.en-chant-ment.ca/Classnotes.html

Songs and/or chants are used for a variety of purposes in Pagan ritual, such as evocations, invocations, power raising, trance induction, quarter calls & farewells, creating group/community mind, soothing jagged emotions and generating visions.

The temple, being open to the public, often has a large number of newcomers or seekers that may not know our chants and rituals.

The choir will be a collection of strong and experienced voices that that lead the circle in ritual chants and song, helping others to raise the energy and create magick with song.

In time, it is also our hope to have a group that can perform in public and be used for public outreach.

Being a member of the Choir will be a lot of work, but will be a lot of fun and very rewarding!

Before you commit:

Vocal experience in a choir is an asset, but not necessary. If you can carry a tune in a bucket, that’s a good start. (Please bring your own bucket.)

Practice will be minimum 2 hours weekly (with breaks over the summer) date TBC.

You should be able to attend most of the temples main rituals during the year (the 8 Sabbats).

How do I get involved?

Please get in touch with Megan Gariepy, 250-758-0016 megangariepy@hotmail.com

When we have list of people together we will schedule the first practice. (Very soon!)

Everyone has that special place in their childhood. It’s stuck in their memories so that they can go and visit when they need a warm embrace. My special place was warm and vivid. I can recall it as if it were yesterday. I have not been able to find such a place since, but it has changed me forever. I look at nature in a different way. My special place has a name; I call it “Fairyland.” It was on my fifth birthday that it was introduced to me with friends and family.

My fairyland was like no other place I had ever seen or told of. I had only envisioned it in my head when stories were being told of woodland creatures dancing under the full moon. We walked for about one hour through thick trees and dense bush. The trees opened and there was a clearing in a shallow ravine. There was moss all over the ground and up the hills, with ferns growing everywhere. I could see little trails the deer had made so they could come to visit this magical location. My eyes wandered all over this dark mystical place. I imagined little fairies dancing around the ring of rocks in the center of the clearing. No one had come to visit this place in years, it seemed, because of the untouched look of nature. Is this how the first explorers felt when they first stood on the “new land”? I started to feel light-headed because of the overwhelming energy this place possessed. This was going to be a day to remember. I have such a love and respect for nature now. I felt as one with something more powerful than myself. I look at a rock or a dead tree and find beauty within it. I respect Mother Nature and Father Sun as they work together to create perfect harmony.

That was a birthday like no other. I was introduced to the intoxicating power of nature and it was Easter Sunday. What were the odds of having two special dates combined? I felt so special, as if I was the chosen one. We all had a delightful day. We sat on the mossy ground eating the picnic lunch my mother had made. We laughed, ate and drank as we all wondered at the beauties around us. My mother picked some children’s games for us to play. One game was called Hot and Cold. My mother had to boiled and dyed Easter Eggs for us to play this game. Then she hid them through out the forest and even in trees. One by one we had our turn at finding our specially dyed egg. I can remember getting so angry with my mother because, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t find my egg. Everyone else’s eggs were easy, why not for me? I found out why. She hid my egg in an old dead tree, where it had blended in. I was filled with joy and laughter at finally succeeding. My mother surprised me by pulling out a birthday cake she made. She hid it in her knapsack. I can’t recall what the cake looked like, but I know it was delicious. In spite of having so many birthdays after this one, none of them compare. This was my most memorable birthday.

I loved having my best friends there to share this with me. I had a couple of my cousins come too, which was not usual because they didn’t live in town. It brings me to tears thinking how hard my mother worked at this special day for me. We didn’t have money for lavish parties or expensive gifts, but she taught me that you don’t need money; all you need is your heart to be in the right place.

My fairyland is gone. There is now a home on top of it. It makes me sad thinking how development ruined a piece of perfect nature. I visit my fairyland in my memories whenever I’m feeling down and want to be reconnected to myself and nature. I remember that special fifth birthday with the sunrays shining through the canopy blessing us. I also remember the warmth of my friends, family and the heartfelt gift my mother gave me. I remember it just like it was yesterday. My fairyland will live in my heart forever.

We would like to thank Devon B for generously sponsoring the Nanaimo Ostara Ritual.

The Temple of the Green Cauldron invites the public to attend our open ritual, celebrating the balance of day and night at the vernal equinox, by joining us in the circle or watching from without. On this day we are mid way between the dark of winter at Yule and the height of light at LItha, the summer solstice.

As the daylight increases we welcome the suns life-giving warmth, the first day of spring, and the fertility of the land. Plants emerge from their winter slumber and the sun warmed earth is being readied for planting.

This is a time of rebirth, renewal, and action following winter’s rest. There is an urge towards spring house cleaning, and taking stock of what work and repairs are needed. It is a time of new beginnings and the chance to reevaulate our lives and then correct inbalances.

A potluck meal will follow the ritual, so bring along your favourite treat to share with everyone.

The fund raiser will be the last opportunity you will have to purchase books-so bring your loonies, toonies and quarters.

The Temple would like to remind everyone that while photography is not forbidden, we ask that you please get permission ofrom those who will be in your picture before you click.

The Nanaimo ritual will be held at the Harewood Activity Centre, 195 Fourth Street. Doors will open at 6:30, and will be locked at 7:00 to avoid inturruptions.
